Congrats on Your Engagement Casey and Marcus!
This “ how we met” story could be a romantic comedy titled as;"Pretty in Pink Meets Bachelor in Blue”, “Man of God Meets Gospel Supreme of the Praise Team”, or “Jock versus Cheerleader” but we thought that the title of, “Love and Basketball” would be befitting!!!!
Casey was invited by her girlfriends to attend a worship service at Cornerstone of Faith Church of God in Christ in Lithonia, Georgia on one chilly Sunday in November of 2008. She enjoyed the church so much that she and her friends joined at the end of service during their first visit. Enthusiastic to get involved in ministry; Casey and her friends joined the praise team and youth department. The trio were later became known as Diana Ross and the Supreme’s of Gospel. They swayed in unison, snapped their fingers, and sung with joy. However, Casey’s beauty was radiant; it made her stand out from the trio according to one handsome gentleman.
Casey’s smile captured the eye of one of the ministers of the church. As he gazed at her; a thought echoed in his heart: “she is going to be your wife!” Shortly after, an opportunity arose for him to introduce himself to her. The youth department put together an event planning committee for an upcoming basketball game. He now would be able to ask her “at courtside” for her number so that she could assist him with the planning. Little did she know, it would also serve as an excuse to get to know her.
As they worked together, they became very fond of each other. They began spending a lot of time together and got to know one another. He learned that she was an outgoing , fun-loving cheerleader who had a zeal for life. He held a quiet, yet confident countenance; who loved to play basketball and whose favorite team was the LA Lakers.
On Valentine’s Day their relationship became official. Like turned into love. When asked what they love about one another; Casey’s response is that she admires his faithfulness, devotion to God, he is great to look at, 6’1, athletic, and a Wave King (inside joke)! Her infamous Woohoo…sums it all up! Marcus also admires her faithfulness, her beautiful smile, enjoys the fact that she tolerates his love for the LA Lakers, and that she is a girly-girl. In essence; this is a tale like Love and Basketball.
May their hearts be centered in God’s love and ever affectionate towards one another!
